A Relationship Type describes the relationship between Assets in text and color. It is best to use general headings for asset types such as computer and printer, rather than specific manufacturers and models. Further detail like this should be recorded against each asset using the additional fields.
If a relationship was to be created between a server and a workstation, a Relation Type could be created with a Down-stream name of 'Client Of' and an Up-stream name of 'Server to'. Other examples of relationship types are 'Has Installed' and 'Installed On' if linking software to computers.
Bidirectional relationship types are where these relationships have no set upstream or downstream direction. An example of a bidirectional relationship type is where 2 networks are connected to each other. In this instance a Down-stream name would be specified as 'Connected To' and the 'Is Bidirectional' options would be ticked.
Color Codes are used to identify the relationship types, color codes can be picked for each different type of relationship. GuidanceNavigate to the Admin Area > System Areas > Asset > Configuration > Relationship Types 
To add a Relationship Type:
- Click Add
- Enter an Upstream name
- Enter a Downstream name
- Pick the Color
- Tick the box Is Bidirectional
- Click Save |

To edit a Relationship Type:
- Tick the box of the Relationship Type you wish to edit
- Click Edit
- Make your changes
- Click Save |  |
To delete a Relationship Type:
- Tick the box of the Relationship Type you wish to delete
- Click Delete
- Click Ok to confirm the action |  |
