Custom URLs for Self Service Portal

As standard, new Self Service Portals are created with a URL in the following format: https://{some_meaningful_name}.selfservice.vivantio.com., where {some_meaningful_name} is perhaps a company name or other name that means something to a company’s customers.

However, some Vivantio customers may want to take this a step further and have a customised URL such as https://support.mycompany.com which complements their company domain. In order to achieve this there are two key separate activities that must take place:

1. Purchase of an SSL certificate for the desired custom domain (eg support.mycompany.com)  from a major Certificate Authority. (Please note that Vivantio is unable to supply SSL certificates for customers and we are unable to accept self-signed certificates or certificates not issued by major Certificate Authorities.). We need you to send the certificate files to us to configure our systems (see below).

2. Appropriate DNS configuration for the custom domain via the domain name registrar that maintains your company domain name records. This is something you will need to arrange yourselves however we will supply you with the necessary details.

When purchasing an SSL certificate please note the following:

You will need to supply us with EITHER

- an SSL certificate in PFX format, AND

- the password for the PFX certificate

If you require an A or A* Rating you will also need to provide us with your SSL Intermediate Certificate in addition to your PFX, as mentioned above. The format of this file is .cer. After Vivantio uploads your PFX and .cer the rating can be checked here

OR

- An SSL certificate in PEM format (these typically have a .pem, .crt, .cer file extension) AND

- the private key for the PEM certificate

Please package these files in to a password protected Zip file and upload the Zip file to us via Dropbox (contact support@vivantio.com for a link to your Dropbox Folder). Please send the Zip password to us separately.

Please ensure you keep a backup copy of all certificate files you send to us and store the Private Key fo future use
